Malnutrition

Malnutrition involves any disease stemming from excessive or insufficient nutrition. The M.I.A.E works for children affected by undernutrition, which causes a lack of the essential nutrients for good health.

  • In 2019, 690 million people were affected by it and more than 820 million people have been affected since COVID.
  • One child out of four under age 5 suffers from it, representing 149 million children impacted by a delayed growth and 45 million children underweight.
  • It is the cause of nearly half of the child mortality rate, representing more than 3 million children dying from it each year.
