Malnutrition involves any disease stemming from excessive or insufficient nutrition. The M.I.A.E works for children affected by undernutrition, which causes a lack of the essential nutrients for good health.
In 2019, 690 million people were affected by it and more than 820 million people have been affected since COVID.
One child out of four under age 5 suffers from it, representing 149 million children impacted by a delayed growth and 45 million children underweight.
It is the cause of nearly half of the child mortality rate, representing more than 3 million children dying from it each year.
